I have had my macbook for 2 years. It is still using the same battery as the day that I got it. I have not had any battery problems, and it has always worked flawlessly for me. Today, my computer has just shut off twice. It said the battery was at 89 percent when it shut off, and I just plugged it in, and it now says 0 percent.

Any ideas on what is causing this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Take out the battery, unplug the machine from power and hold the power button for around 30 seconds... Put the battery back in plug it in and start the machine. Before the grey screen and chime hold Command>Alt>P>R until you hear the second chime...

See if that helps. The shut off thing happens to me sometimes and the procedure above resets PRAM and and cache that might be hanging around...

Thanks for the help. I will try pulling the battery when class ends.

And i have calibrated my battery regulary, and I have been getting pretty good time out of it.

I also just checked and my battery is only at 224 cycles, and it says it's health is at 8% (336 mah)

Seems to be a bad battery.

I don't know if Apple covers batteries after the first year, even with Apple Care, as your battery falls under the "less than 80% health in less than 300 cycles" category.
