Macbook keyboard playing up - help!!

I have a white 2008 Macbook and some of the keys have stopped working, or swapped function. For example the return key now seems to be the 0 key!

So far it's the return key, the zero and another one. As three have gone pretty much simultaneously I'm wondering rather than something mechanical if it's a firmware issue?

Ideas?

So far I have reset PRAM. It's on 10.6.8

Reset SMC first:

Resetting the System Management Controller - Support - Apple

If this does not help create a new User Account, logout of the normal User Account and login into new one, does this make a difference?

Did you install any software/plugin lately?

EDIT:

Just tried that, no change.

No new plugins etc.
