What is the key next to the command key? What key is missing from the computer to make room for that key?

Okay, so the space key is smaller to make room for the special key. I don't know what it does.
I googled 'japanese keyboard' and an image of that key showed up on it. It is not like that on the Chinese version.
It doesn't look like the space bar is smaller, since there are still 4 keys to the left of the space bar. English goes fn, control, option, command. That one looks to go something, option, command, weird key. So it looks like either fn or control is missing (or otherwise placed).
The fn key is on the right side of the right alt key, which is why the spacebar is smaller.
