When I press the power button on my late '08 MacBook to start it up, it sometimes takes a while for the Apple logo to show up. As long as about a minute or so. Any fixes to this?

What kind of hard drive are you using? OS? Could be signs of a failing HD, or possible bad SATA cable.

Have another HD available? Do a quick install of OS on it, and just boot it. See if times are comparable.

I have a 500GB Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid Drive, I have a spare 320GB that was used before I got this, I could try that out.
