Hello,

I have a very odd problem on my alu-unibody Macbook. If I turn it on, I wait approx. 5 minutes to see the desktop. However although I can move the cursor, I can't click anywhere and can not type anything. System is working however. I can see clock is working.

It gets more interesting: After 5 minutes of waiting, I can click and type. Macbook can be used this way, however if I look at the activity monitor, I see that kernel_task is using constantly more than 100% processor. There is no way it goes down.

I tried everything, I started macbook even without harddrive. With system dvd it is the same. Apple Hardware Test could not find any error. Harddrive is definitely not the problem.

Console is not helping much neither. If I boot with verbose mode, there are some lines which might be interesting, however I don't know what they mean. One of them which I always see is:

Sound assertion "0 == entry" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-170.1.50/AppleHDA/AppleHDAEngine.cpp" at line 2976 goto Exit

I see this line 25-20 times with different number at the end. If I boot it with another drive the 170.1.50 number changes as well.

Another error which I see is:

Error getting a reference to IODeviceTree:/options

I am looking for an answer for three days with Google, however although there are some similar cases, I couldn't find any solution to this problem. Macbook is not in warranty anymore.

Please help.
