I want to buy the 13 inch M1 MBPro with the 2 Thunderbolt (TB) 4 ports.

Kind of a novice on this--

I want a hub bus powered if possible

Minimum 3 usb-c ports. I guess usb 3.2 or 3.1 generation 2 would work. Here is were I am not up to speed

I have a Samsung T7 SSD external drive and a Porsche Design Lacie USB 3.0 external HD. I know I can get an adapter for it to the USB 3-C/3.1 or 3.2 ports that would be on the new Hub.

I also have an iPhone 10.

I would lie to plug in the 2 externals and iPhone at same time into the Hub for backups and data transfers. I am doing that now on a basic 3.0 4 port Hub.

I saw a new OWC Thunderbolt Hub to come out next month which sounds like it would work.

And an Anker one that doesn't sound like it would. Especially with all 3 at same time and charging iPhone. Also, sounds like you can only use on external drive at a time.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. And, maybe another Hub would be better.

Thanks

Hi

I have the M1 and use it with the elgato thunderbolt pro dock. I use it with external HDs, it charges the MBP and also connects to my display.

maybe worth a look for you.

Thanks Josh

I will check it out.

I think I settled on the CalDigit TS3 Plus Thunderbolt 3 Dock. Meets all my needs on ports.

I may wait on the new M1 MBPro's coming out in 4th quarter. Not sure. They may have a 14 inch display which I would like.

My question if I do that, involves trying the CalDigit on my Early 2015 13 inch MBPro Retina. It has 2 Thunderbolt 2 ports and the MagSafe power port. Plus 2 standard USB ports.

My plan would be to still charge/power my MBPro thru the MagSafe port. No other choice?

Hook the CalDigit to the MBPro with an Apple TB3 to TB2 adapter. The CalDigit is Powered and delivers 87 watts.

I can then run my 2 Samsung T7 External SSD's off the available TB3 port on the Dock and the other one off the USB-C 10Gbps port also on the Dock.

The only thing left is my iPhone which I should be able to charge off the USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports or just plug into my current MBPro standard USB port.

I am not very tech oriented. But, my research suggests this should work.

Any Thoughts

Thanks
