Recently sold my 2020 MacBook Pro ( 2GHz Intel i5, 16 GB 3733 MHz LPDDR4X, 512 GB SSD ).

Will the base MacBook Air M2 outperform my 2 year old MacBook Pro. I do not know. the SSD speed of the 2 year old SSD in the Pro compared to current M2 models. ?

No video editing, or photoshop but I do have 20 plus tabs open in Safari with YouTube running at same time. Is it waste of time to upgrade the SSD in my use case and just add 16GB memory?

Thanks

Dan

Just stick to the base model if you are only watching youtube videos on it. I’m not even sure why you sold your 13” Intel 2020 MBP, as that machine is complete overkill for watching youtube videos too.

I had same MBP 2020 Intel model (16G, 512M). Now I am using 16G 512 MBA M2, which is much much faster and smoother than previous model, most important one, M2 MBA is much cooler than Intel MBP.

I guess 8G will be enough for most of daily tasks for you, if you have limited budget.
