Macbook/Macbook Air 2018 Design

I'm so excited about the upcoming Macbook and Macbook Air designs. From some of the rumors that I've heard they will both have a fingerprint reader. If there is a seperate power button/fingerprint reader, I believe that will possibly be a design feature on future MBP's. I will also be curious to see the keyboard design. Do you think design cue's from these two machine may be the harbinger for design changes in the MBP?

If a power button/fingerprint scanner is used without a touchbar on Air or MB it is likely a cost cutting and space saving measure. I would not expect the touchbar to go anywhere anytime soon on the MBPs.

I wouldn't assume that there will be any sort of strategy change signalled by this device. If they include a set of pink fluffy dice with every one I wouldn't take that to assume that all new MacBooks will come with pink fluffy dice. They might, but because this particular laptop is being built by a different manufacturer than the MBPro it seems unlikely that they'd be using this to push new hardware strategy.

I could be wrong. And certainly any new features might flow to the next MBPro if they're well received, but I wouldn't expect that this is their prime objective.


In the same way that on iPhone they may do something different on the "C" variant, but that doesn't mean it's an indicator of future direction.

Careful about building up excitement/expectations based on rumors. Apple doesn't always release what the rumor mill claims they will release.

Every year a bunch of folks come on here super disappointed that Apple didn't do what the people thought they would/should.
