Apple makes a MagSafe charging cord for use on airplanes, but do they make one that you can plug into the "cigarette lighter" (I don't know anyone who actually uses it for that purpose) in your car? It looks like the same shape adapter as on airplanes, but from what I've heard it doesn't actually work.

No Apple does not.
You can purchase a power inverter with sufficient wattage and just use the normal AC power cord.
There is loss in the conversion, so just to be safe I'd get a power inverter with at least twice the wattage of your magsafe power supply. For example, if you have the 85W charger, I'd get at least a 175W power inverter.
