Macbook makes loud fan noise if I leave it for too long

I often tend to just leave my macbook pro running when I leave the house. It doesn't make that noise when I'm leaving but when I get back, it tends to have the fan running. I once was surprised to find that happen when I got back from vacation when I thought I had put it to sleep! When I run the activity monitor, I see it's from Chrome most of the time.

Aside from turning it off or closing Chrome everytime I leave, is there other ways to eliminate this issue? I'm afraid I've put my poor Macbook through so much unnecessary strain...
