I have a mid 2014 MacBook pro 13inch with Retina Display. Due to me starting an online cloud computing course, I have decided to try and create a desktop experience using my MacBook pro and an external display. At a glance it looks like im spoilte for choice when it comes to affordable 4k displays, some less than £200 in large popular retailers. However, after reading a bit more into it, it seems in order to really re create that sharp clarity that the in built retina display gives, its not that simple. Unless anyone has successfully achieved this. I don't want to buy a cheap monitor to find that, although it works, the display looks grainy and of poor quality. On the other hand, I don't want to have to spend £1000s on one. Do I need to maybe invest in a reconditioned thunderbolt display, or will a cheap 4k monitor cut the mustard?
Many Thanks for any help/guidance.
