Ok, twice today my normally reliable BlackBook has partially crashed, the mouse moves, the clock ticks, but I can not select anything with the mouse. If I Cmd+Ctrl+Esc to launch Force Quit I can select apps and quit them, even relaunch Finder but the mouse still does not select. If I move the mouse over the clock, battery etc at the top it brings up those menus, but I can not select any of the items. If I then press the power button, I can only select shut down, which is achieved almost instantaneously, not the usual graphical shutting down.

Any ideas?
