Hey all:
I've got a bit of strange issue and was wondering if anyone may have a suggestion. This actually isn't concerning my Mac, but a friend's. She has an aluminum Macbook. Here's the story:

She has ALWAYS used it on Wi-fi since she got in January. In reality, she's never even connected an ethernet cable to it. Well, we were all on vacation last week and the condo we stayed at only had wired ethernet. It worked fine with my plastic Macbook, but her aluminum would never work with it. I checked all of the network stuff in system preferences, and it even showed an IP address like it was connected. I didn't have to do ANYTHING to make mine work, but I tried everything and hers would NOT work. I thought it was just a quirk with that network at the condo, so we let it go. Now she's home and her ISP is having issues, so she went to another friend's house who does NOT have wi-fi. Lo and behold, same issue.

She's on the phone now trying to set up a Genius bar appt., but I was hoping at least one of the oh-so-smarties on Macrumors may have a suggestion. Thanks guys and gals - I appreciate your help. :D
