Hiya

Just got my home with my new MacBook and have got it all connected up for its first charge but the instruction manual alludes to the MagSage power cable showing an "amber" light - I'm definitely only getting a red light, though I can't find any reference on the internet to what a red light means!

Anyone help??

Maybe you're mistaking the amber (really its orange) for red? Its not hard...

Maybe a picture of the light might help us help you.

I don't think that MagSafe's even have a red LED to begin with....

It has always been either amber or green or dead.

Can I turn the MacBook before the first charge is fully complete? i.e. using the mains power at the same time as trying to charge the batter? I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to notebooks

Yes, you can :) I'm not sure about the Macbooks, but the Macbook Pro's also have a battery charge indicator on the bottom of the battery itself - you push a button and some LED's light up to show roughly how much charge is left.

Otherwise, power up and check that it is, indeed, charging.

I just plugged in my MBP for the first time and am having the same experience: it's definitely a red light, not amber.

Hm. Interesting. I now looked directly over the LED light (it's sitting on a desk and I was looking at it from a 45 degree angle) and now it definitely looks orange. But still red from an angle. Maybe that's what was going on with yours.

My red light doesn't goes to green when the battery is charged (I have already verified that the battery is charged completely)
some suggestions?
