Hoping someone can help with my problem. I have a mid-2008 aluminum unibody Macbook and it is not registering my external Insignia monitor. It is connected via a Minidisplay Port-to-HDMI then an HDMI cable. The "Detect Displays" option in System Preferences does nothing, nor does deconnecting and reconnecting the cables, or restarting the computer. However, when I switch the imput between HDMI 1 and HMDI 2 on the monitor, my Macbook screen goes blue for a second, so I am fairly sure the connection is established. How can I get my Macbook to recognize the monitor? Thanks for the help.

Does the monitor/cable combination work with another machine? Does the adapter/cable combination work with another screen?
