I plugged the usb in and nothing shows up in Imovie. I click file>import from camera and the Isight webcam turns on instead. What is wrong?

If you truly have a miniDV camcorder, then the problem is that you're using USB. Get a 4-pin/6-pin Firewire cable and you're set. iMovie will allow you to choose either the iSight or the camcorder.

Make sure you have the camcorder in Play mode and not Record mode.

Also, if that doesn't work, you might be able to switch the "selector" switch on iMovie from iSight to Camcorder.

ah...yes...forgot about that..and IT WORKS!...awesome....thanks FTAOK!

I tried it with the firewire cable and I get "Communication Error" and the cam is set to PC, should I still try importing it or import it by switching to play mode?

I tried it in playmode which works.
