Macbook not recognizing second harddrive

I installed a SSD in my macbook several months ago. I put the SSD where the HDD originally was and moved the HDD to where the optical drive was (I removed that). Yesterday morning, I turned on my computer and couldn't get into my account because the HDD wasn't showing up (that was where my user account was). If everything is connected properly inside (which it should be), why else could my computer not know it's there? Thanks.

There's the possibility something went bad, like the hard drive.
