and it's not simple.

the problem is with a white, plastic macbook, about a year and a half old, and a linksys wireless router.
it is not recognizing or connecting to the wireless network of the house i am visiting. (i have tried the "join other network" and manually keying in the information, but it's still not working)
i was connected through yesterday until about midnight EST when the cable company had some problems. the problems with the company have been fixed, but i'm still not able to connect to the network.
my macbook can connect to other networks right now (open networks in the area, but they are a bit distant and the connection fluctuates) and i'm currently using my friend's toshiba satellite notebook on windows to post this (on the network in question).

i have restarted my mac and we've reset the wireless router. i have no clue what else to check since there does not seem to be a problem with the wireless network itself or my macbook.

if you need any more information, go ahead and ask, but i may not be able to respond until tomorrow.

thanks for any help you can offer, i'm completely befuddled by this one. :/

edit:
the problem with connecting to the particular network seems to have corrected itself, but i still cannot connect with the internet through this network.
and i still can't understand the problem as it's working fine on my friend's computer.
