Hi,

So I have a mid2010 MBP. It cam with 4gbs. Based on apples website, my macbook takes up to 8gbs. So I bought 2 crucial 4gb sticks from amazon. It has tons of positive reviews from mac owners. So to save some money I bought a previously returned package. When I installed it, it only registered as 2 2gb sticks instead of 2 4gb sticks. So i thought I got burned and ordered a new set, same model but brand new retail, and it still registers as 2gb. Its pc3-8500 1066mhz.

Any ideas? I'm running mountain lion

go to about mac and more info and go to memory check if its registering both the ram sticks.
Its strange that its showing only 2gb:eek: Alternatively put the old ram back in and see if it registers your old memory correctly if it does. Send it back for a refund and buy from another trustworthy dealer.

Make sure that is the correct speed RAM also, it might take 1133mhz instead of the 1066, that might be the issue that you are having.
