Hey

Right, I got my macbook in April and as I am an un-proffesional mobile DJ, I use the headphone socket in my mac alot. This then splits up and goes into my amp. Anyway, when I plug it in now, I am not getting stereo, only mono. Is there anything I can do about this? Will Apple replace the socket or what? It's only a few months old and I guess it is still under warranty. Btw, my speakers are playing stereo. Software or hardware fault?

Your headphone jack is probably damaged or dirty, especially since the built-in speakers are stereo. I'd take it to the Apple store and see if they can repair it. I would also look into using a Griffin iMic, as the USB port would be more durable for constant use, and also give you more audio options when you need them.
