I've been burning movies onto DVD+R's & DVD+RW's for over a year now on my (black) Macbook (also purchased that long ago too). As of today, my Macbook is not reading any DVD+R's (blank or burned) anymore and just spits it out. But, the 2 DVD+RW's that I have been using to watch my weekly TV shows can still be detected, read, erased, and written. I've checked the forums, but it doesn't seem to be a lens cleaning problem if the DVD+RW's are ok, or could it be? I would try cleaning it with a kit except that I might end up buying some substandard product that might end up damaging the optical lens/head instead. So, some advice on what I should look for in a real & quality cleaning kit would be greatly appreciated as well. I don't know if this is a NVRAM issue as discussed in other threads - I'm not that technically computer literate, and reading all the other postings has given me a headache
and I am just more confused now and without a solution yet. Is there anyone out there that can give me advice to deal with my problem specifically? I'd call Apple up for support but I'm in China right now. I'm hoping I can resolve this problem without having to make an international call to the US where I might end up being put on hold for a while. And, my Chinese isn't good enough to understand any computer jargon in Mandarin. Also, I have not upgraded anything on my Macbook since purchasing it since a lot of the software I use is downloaded via torrents...so it shouldn't be an updating problem.
