Hi,

I'm currently a major PC user and former gamer, but gaming is behind me, and I'm getting sick of Windows.

For my day job, I write business software mainly, but also low-level system stuff on occassion, including drivers for custom hardware.

My biggest issue is whether to go for a MacBook Pro (13") or the bigger iMac. Portability aside, are there any major performance differences that are not simply down to processor speed?

Can I make the Mac output surround sound for a home cimema system?

Finally, does anyone here develop for Mac, and do they have any feedback?

Thanks! :)

i develop on the mac, once you get the hang of a new IDE it is great, i suggest the ADC XCode which comes with the mac or downloading netbeans

the imac in my eyes would definately be better for you, they just run so much quicker, also come with more ram preinstalled and the availabilty for more, also, when i develop; i like to have some screen real estate, so in my eyes, definately the imac
