MacBook or iPad?

My Powerbook G4 finally bit the dust. What would be a better investment for me? I'm not a student, so I'd just basically use it around the house and outside in the summer, and I have two little kids, so I want something more durable, but I like the size of the iPad. Thanks.

Basically browsing the internet, maybe watching YouTube or a movie. That's about it.

If you go for the iPad, you still need a computer for initial setup, backups, and restore.

Id get the Mac, simply because the Mac will let you do more than the iPad while being less limited (for instance, its difficult to play all video formats on the iPad), and you wont be relegated to mobile versions of many pages.

I do have a desktop, but my son usually steals it for his games and I'm usually stuck using my phone.

I had the ipad and returned it for a macbook air.

Macbook is much better then a iPad you can do more with it.

Get the MacBook, the iPad is great, but if you have a choice between it and a full OS X laptop, get the laptop! Have you considered the 11 inch MBA?
