Macbook osx

I have a white 2007 Macbook with an 80GB hard drive, im not sure on the specs.

I have been trying to get an OS on it with no luck.
I have a macbook pro 2011 2.2ghz with 8gb of ram and two hard drives.

I tried to use the osx disk on the macbook that was from my macbook pro but it doesnt work.

Just so you know I already formated the drive so there is nothing on there.

Im new to mac so what disk should I buy? Snow leopard?

(when I use my sl disk it says it cannot install on this machine)
there is an intel processor though.

Yup, works fine. I reformated it perfectly using disk utility or whatever its called

Do you have the SL Upgrade DVD or do you use a grey restore DVD?
If it is the latter (as you stated), then it WILL NOT WORK (as stated before in so many threads no one searches for).

Yes, you can, as the SL Upgrade DVD is a fully working Retail version and does not need any prior Mac OS X version preinstalled.
