Hi I recently bought a Macbook Pro 16” 2019, heard it was the best macbook where Apple fixed everything basically.

The issue is that my fans start going crazy when using Windows like even on idle when I’m not doing anything! It starts overheating as well. I have i9 2.4GHz 32GBS of ram and the 5300M with 4GBS, the battery also lowers really quick and takes ages to charge.

I’ve heard people complaining about this model having this issue when plugged into an external monitor but I didn’t have that. I’m really enjoying the experience moving from a 27” late 2014 iMac but I really need Windows to play games sometimes but it seems like I’m not even able to run it.

I tried changing the maximum processor state to 90 which didn’t really do much and I’ve checked the task manager and nothing is using up any resources or such.

Anyone knows if there is any way to solve this please?

Thanks in advance

Exactly what do you mean when you say "overheating"? Does it actually get to a point where it emergency shuts down?

Did all the Apple driver packages install correctly? It is expected that Bootcamp will consume the battery faster and the fans to spin more because of worse power management, but this does sound a bit extreme, especially if it actually overheats, and doesn't just heat up

No it doesn’t shut down. It gets pretty hot and farts start spinning up. I didn’t install any drivers, after installing windows and booting up into it I did get a Bootcamp installation setup which I installed but I believe I have all the drivers since the GPU driver did install properly

Does not sound like the machine overheats. Heat is expected, especially during games. For idle and non-game use you can try toggling a power saving mode in Windows, but otherwise I think you may just be seeing expected behaviour then

It does get pretty warm I haven’t kept it long enough I don’t wanna damage it. I’m saying that I’m just sitting on desktop doing nothing and the fans are going off loud. That can’t be expected!

Everyone has a different definition of warm and loud. It is expected to run hotter and have faster fan spin than in macOS for three reasons.

1)
Windows always has the Radeon dGPU active and does not know how to toggle to use the iGPU in idling scenarios.

2)
Windows will not clock and power gate chips as aggressively as macOS

3)
macOSFor the i9, and possibly also the i7, but definitely the i9, macOS has an undervolting profile applied to the chip making it run cooler for any given frequency. This is not active within Windows.

The computer will forcefully turn off if temperatures reach TJunction Max. In the case of the CPU it is rated to safely run at up to 100°C. I believe TJMax is 110° or something like that.

I know that the cooling and performance would be better in macOS but I am pretty sure that it’s not normal that I’m doing nothing just looking at desktop and the fans are spinning really loudly non stop.
