Hi all, so I normally download TV series, and some films, to my laptop and watch them on there, then I have a dvi to hdmi adapter to output that screen to the TV if I want to (more often than not I don't and just watch on my laptop).

I want to do this wireless however, is there something for my tv/ mac that means I can share the screen I am watching to my TV wirelessly, I was thinking maybe a chrome cast or roku/ fire stick, something cheap. My mac doesn't support airplay I don't think because its a 2009 uMBP, for some reason, otherwise I'd just use the apple tv.

What would be awesome if it were possible to stream an app window (say VLC) to my TV and then still be able to do web browsing whilst that is happening, like I know the apple TV can, if my mac were newer

Anything out there for this?

Thanks in advance,
James.
