Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade my MacBook Pro's 13" (2009) HDD, but am having problems with getting the t6 tork mount screws out of the old HDD drive. I got two out but the other ones are just causing the screwdriver to spin, even though they are the same size. Which makes me believe they are stripped, tho I haven't touched them before!

Is there anything I can do? I've had to put the old one back in for the meantime.

Thanks,
Chris.

Hey, thanks for the replys - I've tried that and I've had no luck, it seems to be damaging the screw head. Any other ideas? Really need the extra space and now I've opened the new hdd up I can't take it back.

Thanks.

Another thing, In the System Profile app in OS X it says I have a hitachi hdd, but on the hdd itself it clearly says Seagate?

Any hardware store sells them, and so does most computer stores. Just take one screw with you and ask if they have similar ones

Do you know if you can also buy the screws for the casing? Both the three longer ones and the 7 small ones.

Or are they some kind of Apple only screws?

I'm pretty sure they are normal "computer" screws. Just take a screw with you and go to hardware store and I'm 99% they'll have something similar and it doesn't have to be exactly the same

Can you get a grip with a pair of pliers?
When I upgraded my hard drive, I didn't have a T6 at the time, but could get a good enough grip with the pliers and turned slowly.

Sounds like you buggered up the torx screw. Use a small vice-grip piers or bench vice.

Me thinks you should replace your torx driver too.
