MacBook Pro 13" 2010 Miniport Sound with HDMI?

I just recently got the adapter to connect my MBP to my HDTV but im not getting no sound at all(good video though), i know it cant be the HDMI cable , is this normal? to get no sound? I though 2010 models had sound available through our mini port? is there a setting that I need to change? any info would be appreciated thanks.

Change the Sound output under System Preferences to point to HDMI

Your miniDisplayPort to HDMI adapter has to support audio out too; many of them don't.
