MACBOOK PRO 13" 2014 2.8 512 VS 2015 2.7 256 - TOTALLY CONFUSED

Hi Guys - thanks for having me on!

I hope you can help me to make my mind. I am totally confused between MBP 13" 2015 2.7 256gb and 2014 2.8 512gb. 2014 is 100 dollars more, so it is not an issue. I would love to stay with the 2015 technology, but I don't want to regret not having 512gb. I am planning to have Windows 10 in all cases.

Any advices are welcome

The 2015 model has a slightly better GPU and slightly faster RAM and SSD. It also has the force touch track pad, which is pretty cool.

There isn't really a huge difference though. If you need the 512GB of storage, go with the 2014 model.

Well if you are only running windows 10 then buy a windows laptop.

As for the differences the standard config with 512GB from 2014 will also have a dedicated nvidia 750M dGPU, the 2015 with 256Gb will have force touch and no dGPU relying on the integrated IRIS PRO graphics, As you give no indication of what you use it for it is difficult to tell wether this will matter to you or not.

You can get the 512 as an option on the IRIS pro only graphics for a 2015 if you like but it's an extra 300 dollars, at which point you might as well get the next level up with a AMD dGPU and 512GB and a faster processor for an extra 500 dollars.

If I had found a reliable laptop like MBP, I would have got it. But the problem is that I am using business applications which don't support MAC.

I think you are talking about 15", aren't you? please correct me if I am mistaken.

I am a moderate gamer. No intention for video editing. Microsoft office and web browsing on daily basis.

Should I sacrifice the technology for the bigger storage or the vise versa?

I know very well the force touch track pad, but I have no clue about the older one.

2015 256gb 2.7 = CA $1520
2015 512gb 2.9 = CA $1870
2014 512gb 2.8 = CA $1610

So $350 more for the 512GB. It is a lot of money but only you can decide what you need.
What are you using now? How much storage space? Are going to be running W10 only on this Mac or both, OSX and W10?

Neither 512 nor 256 will take what I have. I have 1T external HD. I will be running both OSX and W10.
I will try to keep it for as long time as I can; this makes me bias toward the 2015 technology. Still cannot make a decision.

Oops sorry I did think it was 15 inch we were talking. On the 15 inch it makes little difference, 5-6% CPU performance increase 3-4 FPS in games for the GPU.
