Hi all, I have a MacBook Pro 13" 2015 and I just bought a mini displayport to displayport cable and to my surprise Mac OS doesn't recognize the external monitor, monitor shows "no signal" however, if I connect it through HDMI it works perfectly.

At this point I'm not sure whether you can connect an external monitor via Mini DisplayPort to displayport cable.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Been there, done that.

It took me months to figure this one out, so here the fix.

You need a VESA certified cable, since a lot of the cheap cables are incorrectly wired.

This page on the official VESA website lists all certified components, including cables (search for "DISPLAYPORT CERTIFIED CABLES" on the page): https://vesa.org/displayport-developer/certified-components/

This brand (Accel) works really well for me: https://www.amazon.com/Accell-mDP-DP-1-4-DisplayPort/dp/B07H48BL1J

Good luck.
