Hi! Recently my girlfriends Macbook Pro just stopped working for no apparent reason. It was working the during the evening and when we woke up the day after it did not work at all. After two days it started working for about one day and then it died again after trying to turn it on in the morning.

This is what happens if i try to turn it on from a completely off state:

With power not connected: I push the power button, no chime is heard, display is dead but I can click the trackpad and then after a couple of seconds it just dies.

With power connected: I push the power button, no chime is heard, display is dead but I can click the trackpad however now it does not turn off. If I remove the power connector it still does not die (that is, I can still click the trackpad).

What I have tried and ruled out:
1. The power cord - I have the exact same computer and the power cord works flawlessly with my computer.
2. SMC reset - Nothing seems to happen except that the charging indicator goes from yellow to green and then to yellow again (as it is supposed to I guess?).

The timing is really bad for this problem to occur since we just started a 4 month long trip to South East Asia from Sweden (the laptop doesn't have AppleCare because it's really not needed in Sweden due to consumer laws, however that is not a discussion for this thread). If all else fails one option is to bring it to an Apple Authorized Reseller in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have trouble even googling for solutions for this problem.
