im going to buy the 13 inch macbook pro. i have 3 options
i live in Michigan and sales tax is 6%

1. apple refurbished http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC374?mco=MTM3NDgzMzY
i like this because its direct from apple
price: 1,080

2. craigslist http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/sys/2019358952.html
( i have talked to the guy and the price is down to 1000) i like this because of the 8gb of ram and no sales tax
price: 1000

3. micro center http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0334909(i live very close)
i like this because its new
price: 1,060

if you're willing to take a bit of a risk, craigslist.

if you want to play it safe, microcenter. Its not like the microcenter MBP aren't from apple and dont't have the same warranty:rolleyes: save yourself 20 bucks.

I would never buy a used computer, and certainly not from a stranger on Craig's list. Check out Amazon, it will be at least $50 cheaper than directly from Apple and there is free shipping with no MI sales tax.

Memory

It takes a heck of a lot of commuting to use even 4GB of memory. Go direct from Apple.

microcenter ... it is close by, saves you a couple of bucks and still has Apple 1 year warranty

enjoy

I have found some cool stuff on craigslist but DO NOT buy a MBP from there, thats just my opinion. I when I first decided to get mine I asked around if anyone knew someone who owned an Apple notebook. After that I convinced them to upgrade to a new one and purchased theirs for an awesome price.

thanks guys. think im going to micro center tomorrow :)
Sadly you will end up paying more, than if you had gotten it from Amazon. If you have Amazon Prime, the 2 day shipping is free and overnight shipping is only $3.99. Did I mention, no State tax?

can i have the link because on amazon i see it for 1150

The Micro Center may be your best price after all.

I got my 13" Macbook Pro from Amazon for $920, due to a tiny defect I noticed in the unibody frame. The average user probably wouldn't even notice it. After informing Amazon about this they offered to refund me 15%, instead of replacing it. I asked if they could do 20% and they said yes. Amazon is good for doing this with their customers.
