Macbook pro 13 early 2011 external display flickering

Hi,
I am having a problem that whenever I connect my mbp 13 to my external display (LG E2260V), the screen is flickering terribly. I tried booting it using bootcamp into windows 7 and there is no flickering. So it only happens in Mac OS. I have updated to 10.6.7 and the problem is even worse. Any suggestions ?
