Hello guys,
I am thinking of upgrading my hard drive on my 13" mbp..
At first i was thinking About Seagate Momentus XT (The Hybrid one) 500Gb
but then i noticed that it's speed is 3Gb/s
My mbp has Sata 3 Port which means it can take Advantage of 6Gb/s Hard Drives.
So, would it be better to go for a 7200 Rpm normal 6Gb/s HDD
Or go for The Momentus XT?

A platter hard drive cannot saturate a 3Gbps(SATA II) link, so no it isn't worth it to get a SATA III platter hard drive.

The only way to make use of a Sata 6 i.e 6GB/s is by buying an ssd and even most of these are not fast enough to use the full speed. So go for the Momentus

I picked this one because it's "Hybrid" and it also has 4gbs of SSD

unfortunately my budget doesn't allow me to go for an SSD, that's why i am looking for Normal Hard Drives..

Depending what harddrive you will compare the Momentus to it will be faster than most 7200rpm you will find however if you want to use the 6GB/s you have to buy an actual SSD not a hybrid.

Buy the XT, SATA 6.0 gbps wont benefit a HDD at all, also i dont think there are any SATa 6gbps 7200rpm laptop HDDs out there.

No, that's not what we said.

The Momentus XT is quite a fast hard drive, but even that one cannot saturate a SATA II connection, no spinning platter hard drive can.

Basically paying extra for a sata III is completely useless.

Get a SSD. You'll be doing your computer a favor by going faster.
I'm getting the 64GB OCZ Agility 3.
Unless you need more storage, then go with the XT then.
