I'm thinking about buying an eGPU graphics card and Akitio Thunder3 Dock Pro with 10Gb Ethernet for Macbook Pro 13 (or MBP 14) to a Mac Pro 2010 connection.
I've found also something like this:
In theory I could use graphic card, 10Gb Ethernet card and possibly additional storage. Is it a good idea?

I would use a separate USB-C -> 10Gbps Ethernet adapter, and connect the eGPU to its own port. Each port can only deliver at most 40Gbps and the eGPU will need all of that to perform adequately.

The majority of eGPU's with additional ports (USB or ethernet) perform poorly in macOS for the additional functions. It's well documented that the USB hubs in several models are unreliable and disconnect often. The only reason macOS users used to consider them was for the higher wattage PSU, but other models exist to fill that void without the added features.

You're better off with a dock + eGPU as two separate devices.

That device will theoretically work. You’re better off charging the MacBook over the eGPU + a dock that has 10gb Ethernet due to price.

As the posters above may have missed this, the linked device has three PCI Express slots and three separate TB3 ports.

In fact I don’t need additional USB ports which is why I took an interest in this ANIMAIONIC MAXIMUS box. These videos show that the device works pretty well:

I think about this Ethernet card:

I also recently had an Akitio Thunder3 Dock Pro for a while and it worked without any problems, however I wasn’t testing 10Gb Ethernet.

It would be good if you could charge your MBP from one of the Thunderbolt port of this device.
