Ive had my MBP since Oct 7/8th and for about a month its been doing an occasional grinding noise in the HDDs or the fans.. its quite bad at times and IDK what it is. Do I need to take it in or is this normal?

The noise seems to sound either like a bad bearing in a fan; or like sometimes while an old pc writes to the hard drive and emits a crunch/grind noise..

Is this serious or not? And should I take it in?

It will be. Take it in.

If your computer is making that sort of noise and is still functioning, it's probably a fan rather than the hard drive. Still, to be safe, back everything up before you take it in. If it's a hard drive failure they'll want to replace it on the spot and data transfer likely won't be included.
