I know the new pro is just around the corner (but who knows where this corner is) but I have the opportunity to buy the late 2011 13" i7 with a 128GB SSD and 3 year Apple Care for £1250. Being an absolute newby in the world of Macs does this sound like a good deal? Would love to wait for the new model (and may still do so) but my Samsung N130 Windows XP lappy is sure looking dated! Does anyone know what generally happens to the pricing of current models once new models are announced - is there a big discount? Many thanks!

I'm in almost the same boat as you...I'm looking at buying a new 17" Macbook Pro and then upgrading the RAm to 8GB...but with the possibility of the new macbook pros coming out right around the corner and having supposedly MUCH better graphics capabilities...im torn on what to do

Both you guys seem to be committed buyers. That being said I'd probably wait it out for the new models.

I just bought an early 2011 17" MBP for 1600 on ebay brand new from macmall. Too good to pass up. GFX update, whoopie do dah. Also 2400$.

That's an excellent price for a late 2011 with an SSD. If Apple is indeed gonna update the Pro models by the end of April, we will only see the 15" as per availability of Intel's Ivy Bridge processors. Because Intel is staggering the release of the chips, the ones suitable for the 13" won't see the light of day until at least June. So if you want a 13", I'd snap that deal up. And when the new 13" models arrive in June and you want one, it will be easy to sell your late 2011 for a reasonable price since you are already paying quite low.
