Hey,

I have a MacBook Air from 2015 (1,6ghz with 8GBs of ram). I’m considering selling it and getting a second hand MacBook Pro 13 inch from 2015 instead, probably the base model or whatever I find.

I already own a 27 inch 2017 iMac that I use for music production so I would use the MacBook mostly for university studies but getting the pro would maybe allow for some music production.

So my question is, would the MacBook Pro 2015 last longer than my air and how much difference is the weight? Is it noticeable or just a bit heavier?

The Pro is about 0.5 lbs heavier than the Air. That's about 16% heavier - I would say noticeable, but not unmanageable (like going from a 13inch to a 17inch laptop).

Lasting Longer:
- (assuming you meant functionality-wise) Functionality wise, maybe. The processor is a bit better, but I would recommend going for a 2015 15" MBP instead (4 cores + hyperthreading). More I/O = better expandability for adding an eGPU and extending the life of the machine. Much better screen too.
- Battery: No.

By the sound of it, the weight is probably fine, a few hundred grams won't make that big a difference... The 15 inch has a better screen than the 13 inch 2015 MacBook Pro?

I would definitively prefer getting a 13 inch laptop though as I would use it for university and I have a specced iMac.

Better screen than the Air.

If you're looking for a spec'd Mac 15" is the way to go.
