I guess... they ran out of holes? o_O

I have a 2019 four TB3 MacBook Pro. The top of my grills is even with the top of the Touch Bar.

Basically the speaker grilles are the same as the 2017 non-Touch Bar MacBook Pro. The function key row was shorter than the Touch Bar, and so the grille was shorter to align with it.

It seems bizarre that they haven't changed the grille, especially since most of the holes are fake and only penetrate very slightly into the chassis (so it's unlikely that there is something underneath on this design that would get in the way?).

Every picture of the machine at apple.com shows the grills even with the top of the TouchBar.

Yep! Weird. Unboxing and hands-on videos online though, from as far afield as Japan, show the same grille as mine though, so it's not a one off.

Seems lazy for them to not update it. This is the kind of design thing they used to sweat, and now they just don't care.
