I noticed today that my laptop charger is starting to rip slightly and I'm worried more about zapping myself. The charger works perfectly fine. Do i have any reason to be worried (will I shock myself?), and will simple electric tape leep it holding up or should I use somethif stronger?

YES.. Electrical Tape will be fine.. There is not much Voltage there per se..

I imagine the 'wound' is caused by some abuse, so may as well fix it up and carry on as AppleCare will not be any help.. Good Luck!! :apple:

It happened to me as well, no abuse was done to that.

Apparently its something that happens every now and them on that rubber coating. And I had no luck in getting apple to get me a new charger (the damaged one still works btw), you can try to pay a visit to the apple store.

Aside that you shouldnt worry, there is still the shielding from the cable, and another coating, so unless you pierce all that, there would be no problem regarding electrical shocks and what not
