Tomorrow im buying an used Macbook Pro from my friend. These are the specs:

Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 4 GB 1333 MHZ DDR3
Startup Disk Macintosh HD
Graphic Intel HD Graphic 3000 384 MB

It has Sierra on it. Will it perform okey?
Can I downgrade the Mac OS maybe for a better perfomance?
First time having a Mac so...

That's a really old laptop, with very low specs, I hope you're not planning on doing anything serious with it?

Sierra should be okay, you can downgrade right to the OS that shipped with it - but performance gains here would be marginal.

I'm just warning you that it's very old and slow, yes you can upgrade the RAM, and add an SSD if it hasn't got one. But expect to pay $200+ for these additions, which is only going to provide marginal gains. If you're spending say $400 on it already, that's $600 to get a mediocre machine that is vintage and will no longer receive any official support or updates. So be very weary!

Downgrading the OS won't help performance.

What WILL help:
- Add ONE 8gb DIMM. This will give you 10gb of installed RAM (cheaper than two and one will work fine).
- Add a small-sized SSD (500gb or even 250gb). Will make a GREAT difference in performance. Again, don't spend a lot money.

The idea is to "make it faster without spending too much".

It's easy to work on a 2011 MacBook Pro. All you need are:
- Phillips #00 driver
- TORX T-6 driver
Go to ifixit.com to see how to change the drive (it's EASY).

Thank you for the info guyz
