Hi Everyone,

My MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro 13-inch, Mid 2012) suddenly developed an interesting issue with its video output on the screen. I started to see red static on the borders and anywhere there's black on the screen. To troubleshoot the problem, I have connected an external monitor to it which worked perfectly.

Never had any major issues with it up to this point. It's running Mojave.

Any suggestions are welcome. I hope to find a solution to this problem, it happened suddenly despite my utmost care and professional use of it.

Please find attached screenshots showing the issue.

Thanks and Best Regards.

Does the issue happen through an external monitor?

If not, it's the internal display or the display cable. If so, it's more than likely software related. Unlikely to be hardware as iGPUs rarely fail.

EDIT: sorry just re-read your post. You've already tried that. As it works fine through external display, it's hardware on the internal display/display cable.

Do you have an Apple Store nearby?
