Hey there, my dad's macbookpro 13" mid 2009 is starting to get slower and slower, therefore he now wants me to replace his HD with an SSD. I looked up the ifixit guide on how to replace the HD which doesn't seem to complicated, also I used crucial's memory adviser tool to find out which SSD would be compatible. Crucial came up with the "Crucial M500 240GB 2.5-inch Internal SSD" but now, after he's done some research of his own, my dad is saying he needs a different one. To be exact the "Crucial M4 2.5-inch". I told him not to buy anything yet and wait for the experts from macrumors to help us out :D
Thanks!

Peter

Get the samsung 840 pro ssd. Good price and the best performance.

Hey, thanks for helping me out. I have this SSD in my mac mini and completely agree with you about the performance, though are you sure it's compatible with my dad's mbp 13" mid 2009?

I've been using the 840 series since their release. Currently three of my MBP's are running extremely reliably & each have lots of hours on them. Compatibility is just fine.

Samsung 830 not too bad either for mid 2009 mbp, has been working on my mid 2009 15" mbp
like a chime.
i have 2010 13" mbp crucial 256k ssd m4 also good.

from my experience samsung 840 pro is very good... so i suggest this... only problem you will not experience sata3 speed due to the fact that your mac should have only sata 2 standard

The 840 pro is indeed nice but would be overkill for a 09 macbook. The 09 only has sata 2 so it'd be better to get something cheaper and save some money. the crucial m4 and 830 are both good

The normal Samsung 840 should be sufficient for the 2009 MBP. Also the 500 is not so expensive, but 250 is very good, regarding price, performance and reliability.
