So the 13" macbook pro dropped the core 2 duo, and at the same time they dropped the dedicated graphics card.

And there was some dispute with Intel and nVidia not allowing both IGP and dedicated graphics in the 13" which I didn't really understand.

One of my first questions was.. ok so is the HD3000 better than the 320m with shared memory? no

And if not is the 4000?

Because now it almost seems pointless to go for a thick 13" macbook pro instead of just going with a lightweight MBA...

The 320m was an integrated GPU. It just worked as well as some entry level discrete GPUs.
