I have a Macnook Pro 13" Mid 2010 and this evening my wife was on it and the track pad split in half and began to expand. I quickly unplugged and did an hard shut down. I unscrewed the bottom and to took the battery out as quickly as possible before any other damage happen. A peace of the battery bracket that was held down with a screw was broken. the Macbook was working just fine so i believe i saved it before it possibility exploded. Has anyone had something like this happen before?

It is not uncommon for batteries to swell near the end of their useful lives. Get it replaced as soon as possible.
