I have received today my new MacBook Pro 14'' 8 core.
I use an external monitor and it is very strange that the fan is always activated, even at the minimum.
There is a small noise that goes totally away when I power off the laptop.

Anyone else having got this issue?

I've yet to see my fans kick in on the 14" and most on here seem to report the same, even after extensive use. You may have a bad one based on other reports.

Not using an external monitor but I don't recall hearing the fans turn on once, 14" 8 core here as well

14 inch 8 core edition has two fans? May I ask? or just one single fan like the 13 inch m1

again ,people should report if they hear the fan with external monitor
OP you should try to see if you hear the fan without the monitor

I hope more users will comment on fan noise when connected to an external monitor. I‘m currently using a late 2016 15 inch with TB, and the fan noise is driving me nuts. It greatly hinders productivity when trying to concentrate. Was thinking of switching to the Air just because it lacks fans but held off because I need more ports.

kawa636r How did you connect the monitor that make your Macbook pro start spinning up the fans. HDMI or displayport/thunderbolt or thunderbolt
