I found that on my 14” model some of the keys are titled upwards more than others, meaning light underneath the keys escapes.

Whilst it’s only a few keys it’s super distracting, especially when watching a film at night. The most annoying one is the big space bar as I feel like the light is staring right into my soul.

How are your keyboards looking? Personally I think im going to ask for a replacement over this

I’ve attached a pic, you’ll see the 1, 4, E, D, L and space bar are all defective

I think they are manufactured that way. There is already another thread here about it.

Pretty similar, but only looking at a very shallow angle. Maybe at a shallower angle than your picture, but it is hard to tell. At a normal angle it is not visible (just a slight glow from around the keys). I suspect this is part of the reason for the black surround.

At a higher angle mine looks like this:

For my case, I don't see this as a defect. My previous 2015 MBP has similar light bleed from around the keys.
Not sure if yours is worse, would have to compare side-by-side

Same issue here on a 16" -- noticed it right away. I have the keyboard backlight set to auto-off though so it doesn't persist or bother me that much.

Mine has this on a few keys, bothers me a little but I'm sure they'll probably bed down a bit with use.

I'm used to it. Besides, my keyboard light goes off after 5 sec anyway.

It's not perfectly uniform on either of my MBPs. You can do an exchange if you want, I doubt that will improve your situation. Best to just get over it.
