I received the MacBook pro 14" everything is great except there are 3 keys that appear to let out more light then the rest from the back lighting. Keys 4, D & L are letting out quite a bit more light when viewing at an angle then the rest. Is this a normal thing that I am being too picky with or is this a defect?

Here is a photo showing it

Guessing this is normal, seen other people saying the same thing, also have some keys on my 16" model letting out more light.

Wouldn't bother returning it.
Thanks for confirming. I figured this was within tolerance. Definitely did not want to go through the exchange process. I think having the black around the keyboard shows the back lighting differences a bit more than the space gray or silver.

I notice this as well but it really depends on your viewing angle. In the position I use my laptop, I do not really notice this. However, I really wish they had the older keyboard/chassis design instead of the all black one in this generation...it shows fingerprint dirt/grease so much more easily.

I think that was a joke, based on some member's threads of multiple returns until they get one deemed "perfect". Depending on angle, I also see light under 0, s and ;. 14".
I notice that the proliferation of those threads tend to be done to troll users.

I am just making fun of the obsession of looking for flaws in a perfectly functioning device.

What I want Apple to do is produce a spill-resistant keyboard as their users tend to consumer cold/hot liquids while using their Macs.

It isn't unreasonable as the iPhone, iPad, watch and Airpods are resistant to moisture or even liquids to varying degrees.

If they did that then I would have saved $500 on a keyboard replacement for my 2010 MBP 13"

I shifted to my right leg, and now it's expanded to: v, b, n, m, ,, ., /,f and caps lock. Worry, worry, worry.

What do you expect from one led placed under each key? They will be no homogeneous light uniformity.

I expect uniformity. I did call apple support and they said this is not normal so yes I will be exchanging the device for a new one. A $4000 price tag demands perfection. Thanks!
You are 100% absolutely wasting your time. It's a design side effect. They all look the same, don't ask me how I know.

Lol. Did you try it on different brightness levels? I don’t really like the backlight unless I’m in a dark place..

I see light below key '4', otherwise it's okay. I am sure there's a perfect keyboard out there. I personally wouldn't play the return game just for the odd key though.

Agreed, its not worth the time and effort. I went to the Apple store and all 6 of their display models had at least one key with light leakage. I just turned the backlighting off.
