GM,

Need some help from the community.

Computer was awaken this morning with a odd behavior, like going to lock screen on its own, I would unlock and it would lock it again within seconds and also screen would go dark and back on.

I decided to reboot, now the screen shows loading startup option or something and it wont get passed that.

I have already gone into recovrey mode and performed a Disk AID, all looks good.
I have formatted the disk and reinstalled the OS Fresh but still having the same behavior once I try to boot normally.

Sounds like a hardware issue?

What else can I do? Is this computer doomed?

Please advise

It’s not, I checked all button..

Also, when I get into Recovery Mode, if I hit the Macintosh HD option it wont do anything, but I can however get into the settings mode to perform reinstall, repair and all.

I just can’t boot normally which is weird

I have created a second partition now and I’m going to try to reinstall and boot from there

Yeah I thought about that as well. However if the problem is with the power button, won’t it be the same thing?

I will try anyway!!

I also tried using a different partition but no luck!!

I think the power button is broken or something

Since you can access startup options, can you press Command D and run Apple Diagnostics? If you do lmk what you see.

If that doesn’t work, it’s time to visit an Apple Store and have your Mac checked out. Get a Genius Bar appointment or drop in.

There might be a serious issue with the power button, or you might have spilled something on your Mac.

Laptop is still at Apple waiting for parts. It’s been there for 8 days.

They said repair would take 3-4 days.

Should I call?

SAME thing happened to my M1 14 Pro years back. Paid for a Battery Replacement. Technician couldn’t get it to Boot Up. They gave me a “NEW Refurbished Unit”
Might try that life hack.

Sorry for the late reply—I was swamped with getting my AutoCAD certification exam prep done!

If the repair takes longer than the Apple Genius said it would, I’d suggest calling the Apple Store where you had the MacBook Pro checked out and repaired.

When you call, there might be an answering machine that could transfer your call to AppleCare. But if you don’t follow these instructions, it won’t go directly to the store. Just say the magic word “manager,” and it should connect you to the Apple Store manager who’s on call during store hours.

They can look up your repair ID and name and give you more information or tell you what’s happening with it. If they say you need to come back and it’s done, just make the arrangements to get your MacBook Pro picked up.
