Hey,
I know this is a long shot. I spilled some soda on my Late 2011 17 Macbook Pro keyboard. Now a few keys don't work - F1, 1, Q, A, Z (and delete even though it's on the opposite end of the board).

Anyways I have a working Late 2008 unibody 15inch that I use as a HTPC now. I was just wondering if I could use it's keyboard in the late 2011 17inch. They look pretty similar. I know it's a pain to change out just the keyboard, but I though I'd ask anyways.

Thanks!

I think the issue you'd run into is not necessarily the difference in year models, but the difference in size of MBP. I think a 15" keyboard ribbon cable will likely be too short to connect to the logic on a 17" model. The connector on the logic is a little more toward center of machine on a 17" than on a 15" which makes me doubt that it would reach. Also, I don't know if the keyboards mount exactly the same into the top case, so that could be another concern too.
